Biographical Information

Dr. De Silva is originally from Sri Lanka, a small, beautiful island nation in the Indian Ocean. She completed a bachelor’s in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She then pursued a master’s in Biochemistry at Kansas State University and later completed her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her doctoral research focused on characterizing interactions and kinetics of Glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β), a key enzyme involved in various signaling pathways, using isothermal titration calorimetry. Dr. De Silva is passionate about teaching and making biochemistry enjoyable for students while helping them achieve their career goals. Outside of academic and teaching responsibilities, she enjoys hiking and exploring nature.
